Fort Worth’s music scene has long been one of the industry’s best kept secrets. But with more and more breakout artists hailing from North Texas, people are starting to pay attention to the music coming out of the city.
One of the best ways to see up-and-coming Fort Worth songwriters are at the many open mic nights across town. We’ve ranked some of the best songwriter nights in Fort Worth, where you can go and test out new songs, hone your skills, network with other local songwriters, or just catch some of Fort Worth’s best talent on their way up (who doesn’t like to say they “knew someone when”?)
Magnolia Motor Lounge
Arguably one of the most well-known open mic nights in town, Magnolia Motor Lounge has been hosting songwriters weekly since the opening of their new location on Southwest Blvd. They also host a songwriting competition with cash prizes and more.

White Elephant Saloon – Mondays at 8pm

The White Elephant Saloon is one of the Stockyards’ most historic venues. Songwriters are invited to come play original songs for tourists and locals alike. Many people who play White Elephant’s open mic night go on to play opening slots at the venue, so if you’re a songwriter looking to turn your passion into a career, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Avoca Coffee
If you’re looking for an open mic night in Fort Worth but you’re not into the bar scene, Avoca Coffee Roasters hosts songwriters every other Friday in the heart of the Stockyards. Plenty of walk-up traffic gives you the opportunity to play your songs for an audience.

Atlas
Hosted inside of a cocktail bar, the open mic songwriter night at Atlas has created a space for songwriters to come and connect with one another while they play their original songs. With a community-like atmosphere, this open mic night has songwriters that return weekly.

Fred’s Texas Cafe Bowie West
Presented by the Fort Worth Songwriters’ Association, this monthly open mic is to both FWSA members and guests alike. Solo artists and duos are welcome to come play 2-3 songs, but originals and covers welcome.
